Women of Distinction Gala
At this annual April event, three cornerstones of Girl Scouting, leadership, personal achievement and community service, are celebrated through the achievements of local women (Women of Distinction) and promising Girl Scouts (Future Women of Distinction).
2007 marked the 15th year of the event, and included an additional award: A. Virginia "Ginna" Dietz of Maplewood was the first to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award for exemplary community service. Click here to learn more about Ms Dietz's honor, and to learn more about this year's festivities.
Any currently active Girl Scout, between 14 and 18 who participates in troop and council-wide activities, and/or any individually registered Girl Scout whose character and achievements reflects the ideal of the Girl Scout Promise and Law, may be nominated as a Future Woman of Distinction. Click here for Future Women of Distinction materials. The Future Women of Distinction are presented at the Women of Distinction Gala, which takes place each April. Women of Distinction honorees are selected by the council. For more information about this award and the nomination process, contact Marion C. McCarthy at 973-746-8200, ext. 136.
