Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club
Every year in October, Girl Scouts, friends and community partners take to the green in celebration of Girl Scouting. Often held at the Shackamaxon Golf and Country Club, the event is a day of sportsmanship and fun, with proceeds benefiting girls in this council's jurisdiction.
Last year's golf event was a milestone because the council teamed with the Girl Scouts of Washington Rock to host the gathering. Click here for photos and lists of sponsors from last year's Golf Classic.
About Our Councils
The Girl Scout Council of Greater Essex and Hudson Counties and the Girl Scouts of Washington Rock Council together serve more than 17,000 girls supported by 5,500 adult volunteers covering 50 communities in Hudson, Essex, Union, Middlesex and Somerset Counties. One in seven girls is a Girl Scout in the council’s coverage area and 80 percent remain in Girl Scouting over several years.
 Sixty-percent of women in corporate leadership positions today were Girl Scouts and credit the movement with providing them the courage and confidence to enter a multitude of nontraditional fields. Today, even female United State Senators as well as both female incumbent Supreme Court Justices credit Girl Scouting for their achievements. Girl Scouting continues to support and encourage girls to pursue an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
Both councils operate under the auspices of Girl Scouts of the USA, America’s preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls.
