The Oval Outdoor Program Center, located in the South Mountain Reservation in Maplewood, New Jersey, is named for its large playfield. Day Camp at the Oval is open to ALL GIRLS entering grades 1 - 8 in the fall.

Program: Day camp is in session from 8:45 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Campers participate in badge related activities, hiking, crafts, outdoor skills and field trips, including a trip to a lake once a session, for swimming, beach play, picnicking and fun. Working with the camp staff, campers help plan unit and all-camp activities, ceremonies and service projects. Overnights, theme days, and special programs add to the fun of day camp.

Facilities: Rustic cabins with electricity, running water, modern bathrooms and kitchens provide a home base for camp groups and a place to store their daily belongings – backpacks, bag-lunches, etc. A well-stocked craft cabin and infirmary are also available.

Overnights: All campers are eligible (though not required) to stay overnight on the second Wednesday of each session. Campers help prepare and cook their own meals, and participate in an all-camp bonfire sing-along. Complete information on overnights, including equipment needs, is provided in the Family Handbook, and reminders are handed out during the camp session.

Meals: Campers should bring a cold lunch with a drink and snack each day. Refrigeration is available. During sleepovers, food is provided for dinner, and breakfast and lunch the next day.

Health and Safety: The Oval Day Camp follows the program standards and the health, safety, and security guidelines set by this council, Girl Scouts of the USA and the New Jersey Department of Health. A qualified Health Supervisor is on site, and all camp staff are first aid and CPR certified. Local emergency services can be called upon if needed.

Fees: The camp fee of $350.00 per session includes all program supplies, one (optional) sleepover, meals for overnights, any trips out of camp, and daily bus transportation to and from the Oval. Financial aid is available.

Family Handbook: Registered campers receive a Family Handbook with confirmation of registration. The Family Handbook contains complete information on day camp equipment needs, safety rules, and day-to-day procedures. Any changes to the transportation schedule will also be included.
