Built in 1903 as an Adirondack Great Camp, Eagle Island has been a summer home for Girl Scouts since 1938. Our unique island setting is ideal for aquatic activities of all types, and a ten-minute boat ride to the mainland puts us within easy reach of spectacular hiking in the Adirondack Park. All Eagle Island campers participate in swimming, boating, crafts and archery, as well as activities specific to their chosen program. Campers live in units of 15 - 25 girls, in platform tents or cabins. Modern bathhouses and showers are centrally located.

Fees: The camp fee includes room, board, and program supplies. This camp fee does not fully support the camp cost. Funding from the United Ways, other agencies and the individual council’s operating fund enables the camp fees to remain low. A non refundable, nontransferable $80.00 deposit per session is required at the time of registration. See the brochure for registration instructions and details about camp programs.

Water Skiing: will be included in selected programs. It will not be offered as a separate program.

Health and Safety: Camp Eagle Island follows the program standards and health, safety and security guidelines of this council, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., the American Camping Association, and the New York State Department of Health. Local emergency services can be called upon as needed.

Health Care: A registered nurse is on site at all times camp is in session. In addition, all administrative staff, waterfront staff and UnitLeaders, as well as many other staff, are certified in First Aid and CPR.
Ill or injured campers are cared for at the infirmary until arrangements can be made for them to be seen at a local health care facility, or transported home, as appropriate.
All campers must have a physical examination before attending camp.
A medical form is included in the confirmation packet and must be returned by May 20th. It often takes several weeks to obtain an appointment for a physical exam, therefore, it is important to make the appointments immediately.

Equipment and Clothing: Campers should bring comfortable, old play clothes that can get dirty! Each girl will need a sleeping bag (or other bedding), raingear, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes. A complete equipment list will be included in the confirmation packet.

Meals: Meals at camp are nutritious, plentiful, and well balanced.
Most special dietary needs can be accommodated if noted on the health form. Snacks are provided each day.

Buddies: Campers may request to be placed with a buddy, as long as space is available in the desired program. Buddy requests are limited to one friend. Buddies must register for the same program, session and be of the same age/grade and must request each other. Requests for more than one friend cannot be accommodated.

Transportation: We encourage all campers to ride our chartered buses which leave from the GSCGEHC Service Center in Montclair, NJ, promptly at 6:15 a.m. and return to Montclair in the evening of the last day of the session. Our buses are supervised by adult volunteers and staff. The bus fee is $75.00 one way and round-trip $140.00. Families who wish to drive to camp will be greeted by our staff in the mainland parking area. Driving directions are included in the Eagle Island Family Handbook. Families are not permitted to visit the island on change day

BUS CHAPERONES NEEDED!! Adults are needed to serve as bus chaperones on our camp buses. Chaperones receive a $100.00 stipend for riding the bus to camp and back on the same day. Adults interested in chaperoning should contact Renee Jackson at (888) 746-8200, ext. 141

Family Handbook: The Eagle Island Family Handbook is sent to all registered campers in the confirmation packet. It contains all the information needed to prepare your camper for her camp experience, including equipment needs, transportation, health requirements, trading post procedures, and day-to-day camp routines.
